Black Mulberry Nigra

The domed, rounded habit of this tree gives it an architectural appearance, a brilliant tree to be grown as a specimen in the middle of the lawn and is to be admired for its outstanding beauty. That is not all, this tree is also a fruit bearer, producing crops of delicious, sweet, sharp tasting mulberries, similar in shape to the raspberry. The fruits matures slowly over the summer month's, fully ripe fruits are very attractive, very dark-red to black in colour, but need to be quick as the birds will have them first. Mulberries can be eaten or cooked, and are great for jams.
